Dru Mathis

Has very good length to go along with good overall size as a linebacker. Has room to add a good 10 pounds once he gets into an FBS strength program. Versatile defender who began his career as an inside linebacker but has developed a pass rushing skill set while at junior college. Has been one of the more productive linebackers in the California JUCO ranks for two years. Shows good dip coming off the edge and does a nice job using his length with an effective straight-arm move. Finishes plays in pursuit with well above-average closing speed. Can also play off-ball. Will need to keep honing his pass rush technique should he stick as an outside linebacker at the next level. Projects as a possible Power 5 starter, depending largely on how quickly he assimilates back to playing FBS competition.
